The Clippers released Smush Parker yesterday. It will be interesting to see where he lands next. One of the best testaments to Kobe Bryant’s greatness is that he led the Lakers to the playoffs twice despite having Parker as the starting point guard and Kwame Brown as the starting center.

Four seasons ago, he was Defensive Player of the Year. During that season, Artest held his offensive targets, including some of the league’s top players, to 8.1 points per game on 9.3 shots per game and 42.6 percent shooting. This can’t be emphasized enough. I know four seasons have passed, but Artest is only 28 years old — a year younger than Kobe Bryant.
